Henry County beef cattle and hay producer Gordon R. Metz of Martinsville was re-elected to an eighth term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors in December 2008.

He has served on the state board since 1986.

Metz chairs the VFBF Animal Husbandry Advisory Committee, Equine Advisory Committee and Membership Services Advisory Committee.

He is a past president of Henry County Farm Bureau and has served for more than 20 years on that organization’s board. He also is a past member of the VFBF Young Farmer Committee.

The Henry County native is on the advisory board for Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation and is an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He is a former president of the Figsboro Ruritan Club and the Augusta Military Academy Alumni Association.
