Albemarle County beef and wine grape producer H. Carl Tinder Sr. of Earlysville was elected to the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors in November 2006.

Tinder chairs the VFBF Livestock Advisory Committee, is vice chairman of the Wine Grape Advisory Committee and serves on the Emerging Agriculture Enterprises Advisory Committee.

Tinder and his wife, Lacy, own The Homeplace Vineyard and a 120-head cow-calf herd. He also manages Adventure Farm LLC, which consists of a 500-head cow-calf herd, a small meat goat herd and a vineyard. The 1995 Virginia Tech graduate holds a degree in animal science.

The Tinders have three children.
