Before we get started
- You and your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have watched the Smart Start video and reviewed the Safe Driver Booklet.
- You are only eligible to enter into the Smart Start program once.
- You must be accident-free and conviction-free to enter this program.
- You must be under 18 years of age to be eligible for this program.
- For the policy period after you and your parent(s) or legal guardians(s) sign the SSP contract, you must meet the following conditions:
- Have and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license when entering the program and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license for the continuous program period. Exception: a non-Virginia driver’s license shall be permitted if the youthful operator is a dependent of a parent or legal guardian who is an active-duty member of the armed forces stationed in Virginia.
- Be listed as a driver on a VFBIS private passenger auto liability policy.
- Remain accident-free and conviction-free
- We also ask you to promise the following:
- Put safety first.
- Use your seatbelt.
- Don’t drink and drive.
- Drive defensively.
- Obey Virginia’s ban on all cell phone use while driving (until you’re 18 years old).
