Frequently Asked Questions about Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)
What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
Multi-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring two or more verification methods to log in. This ensures that even if someone has your password, they will not be able to access your account without also having access to your phone or email.
Why are we implementing MFA?
We're committed to protecting the personal and financial information of our members. Implementing MFA is a crucial step in shielding our members' accounts from cyber threats.
Who needs to use MFA?
All Virginia Farm Bureau members who need to log into their accounts will use MFA to enhance account security.
When will MFA be implemented?
MFA will start rolling out in early May 2024.
How do I register for MFA?
When you log in to your member account after MFA is implemented, you will be prompted to verify your account. You can choose to receive a verification code via text message, phone call, or email. Just follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
How will MFA work once I am registered?
Each time you log into your account, after entering your User ID and password, you'll be prompted to verify your identity. You can choose to receive the verification code through text, call, or email. Input the code on the verification screen to gain access to your account.

What should I do if I receive a notification prompting me to approve a login attempt that I did not initiate?
If you receive a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) notification asking you to approve a login attempt that you did not initiate, please follow these steps:
- Report Suspicious Activity: Contact Virginia Farm Bureau (VFB) and provide details about the notification. Reporting this suspicious activity helps us investigate and take appropriate action to secure your account.
- Secure Your Account: Change your VFB login password immediately. This adds an extra layer of security to your account and helps prevent further unauthorized access.
I'm not receiving the phone call or text message with my MFA code. What should I do?
There are a few reasons why you might not be receiving your MFA code. Here are some things to check:
- Phone Settings: Make sure your phone's operating system is up to date. Outdated software can sometimes cause issues with receiving messages.
- Network Connectivity: Verify that you have a strong cellular signal or Wi-Fi connection. A weak connection could prevent the code from reaching your phone.
