Be Prepared for a Natural Disaster

1

Have a plan in place and an emergency kit ready.

Determine where you would go if you needed to evacuate. Don't forget to account for any pets, as most emergency shelters don't allow them. Download our Family Communication Plan to help you prepare. Consider tucking one in your child's book bag and keeping another in each family vehicle.

  • First aid kit
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Battery powered radio
  • 3-5 day supply of food and water (for pets too!)
  • Prescription medication
  • Cash and credit cards
  • Change of clothes and shoes
  • Sanitation supplies
  • Blankets or sleeping bags
  • Emergency tools
  • Leash or crate for pets
Refresh emergency items at least once a year. Check all the items to ensure they are in good, working condition and re-evaluate if you or your family's needs have changed.
